Instagram Launches New Shopping Feature For Brands
Shopping habits have changed drastically due to mobile devices. You can shop while watching TV at home, make purchases on your commute to work, compare prices online while you’re at a store to find a better deal.
So it was only a matter of time until the ability to make purchases extended to Instagram, the most popular photo-sharing platform. Facebook-owned, Instagram recently announced the ground-breaking shopping feature which will make ecommerce easier on the platform.
How Will Instagram Shopping Work?
Launching first in the US with brands like Kate Spade, JackThreads and Warby Parker, the new feature will allow retailers to:
- Tap to view: a view which showcases up to 5 products, with product descriptions, prices and other relevant product information.
- Show now: link consumers directly to the brands website with a click on the “Shop now” call to action button.
The Benefits for Brands and Consumers
The new Shopping features are aimed at keeping Instagram’s 500 million monthly active users on the app for longer during their shopping experience than previously, when users would have to leave the app to research and buy products. The new ad feature will also apply to regular posts as well.
